Igor Sikorsky's massive
Ilia Mouromets biplane flew some 1,200 km from Saint Petersburg to Kiev, in 14 hours and 38 minutes, with one landing for fuel at Orsha. The return leg, flown over a week later, would complete a world-record round trip.
