De-Lloyd "Dutch" Thompson, of Chicago, in a Gyro powered Day Tractor biplane, broke the American altitude record today by rising to the height of 15,600 feet. The previous record was 11,260 feet, made by Lincoln Beachey at Chicago in 1913.
