The records of the
Sopwith Aviation Company reveal that on 14 March 1914 the firm added a War Office order for three more Sopwith “SS” Single-Seat Scout versions of the
Tabloid (bringing the total on order for the RFC to twelve), and the factory completed two
Anzani-engined pusher floatplanes (Nos 123 and 124) for the Admiralty.
