Alexander Graham Bell wrote, on 18 March 1914 to Mr. E.L. Laur of Toronto,
endorsing Laur's notion for powering a helicopter. Bell said, "...I think you have the correct principle for making a successful helicopter, viz:- applying the power to the rim instead of the axis."
